Dr. He was born in Yushu County of Jilin Province, an important area for crop production. She studied soil science and plant nutrition at Jilin Agricultural University, earning a B.Sc. in 1992 and M.Sc. in 1995. Dr. He got her Ph.D. in Plant Nutrition Science at the Graduate School of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences (CAAS) in 1998. During 2001 to 2003, Dr. He was chosen by the Chinese Ministry of Science and Technology and the Science and Technology Agency of Japan to work on high yield maize (corn) research at Hokkaido University as a post-doctoral fellow. She is now the full time Professor at the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Regional Planning, CAAS. As the Director of China Program, Dr. He is coordinating the research and demsontration work of IPNI China Program, and specifically looking after the nutrient management for Northeast region (Heilongjiang, Jilin and Liaoning), and Northcentral region (Hebei, Henan, Shandong, and Shanxi, plus Beijing and Tianjin). Dr. He has authored or co-authored over 100 scientific papers, and has received wide recognition for her work.
