IPNI China Program participated Society meeting and made an on-site training on Nutrient Expert

The 2018 annual meeting of the Chemical Fertilizer Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer, with the theme of “Chemical Fertilizer Reduction and Sustainable Development”, was held in Xi’an on August 7-8, 2018. The conference was hosted by the Chemical Fertilizer Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer, the Institute of Agricultural Resources and Agricultural Regional Planning of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, the Key Laboratory of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer of the Ministry of Agriculture, the International Plant Nutrition Institute China Program, and the National Key Research and Development Program “Fertilizer nutrients recommended methods and limited standards”. More than 200 delegates from different institutions including fertilizer research scientists and fertilizer industry delegates attended the meeting.

Focusing on the chemical fertilizer reduction and sustainable development, a theme presentation of “Nutrient Expert” was presented by Dr. Ping He, as the director of the Chemical Fertilizer Professional Committee of the Chinese Society of Plant Nutrition and Fertilizer. There were 29 presentations totally with the focuses on fertilizer recommendation, nutrient organic substitution, nutrients synergistic mechanism and pathways, etc. The presentations provided plenty of information on themes of chemical fertilizer reduction and sustainable development with the latest research progress. Finally, the conference recommended six excellent presentations.

In the evening of August 7, the WeChat based Nutrient Expert training was organized. Dr. Ping He introduced recent progress of Nutrient Expert for cereal crops, vegetables, fruit trees and cash crops. Dr. Xinpeng Xu helped the participants install the WeChat and did an exercise to make fertilizer recommendations. Over 150 copies of Nutrient Expert power cables have been handed out. This training activity attracted more attention of Nutrient Expert to participants coming to this meeting. All China Program staff came to this training activity.
